I am in the market for a compact tractor. I am looking between the jd4400 and tc35.want 4wd,loader,Industrial tirs,shuttle shift,brush hog,pull behind finish mower. Will use in pasture,woods and mowing. Has to be good on lawn and in wet fields.I would be interested in any comments about these units, there hasn't been much said about the tc35.Here is a stupid one, whats the difference between MFWD and 4wd, is one better?Any comments about the new 16LA New Holland loader?

Steve I have a JD4400 Hydro with 86 hrs., and am very happy with it. I have a loader, R4s, grader blade, box blade, tiller, Bush Hog cutter, PTO chipper & JD48 backhoe. The only problem I have had was with the front axle that has been replaced. MFWD & 4wd are the same thing. Chris ....

Steve, MFWD = Mechanical Front Wheel Drive. I reckon you that means you have to use a shift lever instead of electronic shifting. Does anyone know of a tractor that has another kind. ....

MFWD means mechanical front wheel drive stressing mechanical. The first front wheel drives where hydraulic 'assist' drives to the front wheels that tended to poop-out in a lugging situation (plowing) while losing traction. "Mechanical" stressed that couldn't happen. ....

For what it's worth, I'm most happy with my 4400. R4s do not bother even a finished lawn if it's dry, and though leaving an imprint when it's not real dry, don't leave ridges, etc. I like the R4s. My dealer is exceptional, and Deere, to has been great -- replaced last year's 4400 with a one!!! But, my best advice is to check them both out carefully, and if all's equal, go with the best dealer (parts & service) ....

I have a JD 4400 and love it. I have not had any problems. I tried a TC33 before I bought the JD 4400. Two things I found that made a big difference are TC33D brakes are on the right side with the hydro control. To make sharp turns on a tractor I have always used the brake. You can't use the brake and press the hydro for forward at the same time on the TC33D. The JD 4400 has the brake on the left side and is no problem. Try pulling a load with both tractors. I think the JD is more powerful. Aside from these differenses I found. I think they are both great tractors. Also, I am not a JD diehard fan. I owned a Ford for many years. ....

THE TC35 HAS THE SAME PEDAL SETUP FOR HYDRO AND BRAKES AS JD4400 ....
